Youth Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC)
The Youth Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) is a specialized walk-in center designed for children and teens ages 4 to 17 who are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis and need immediate, compassionate support. Unlike a traditional emergency room — which can be overwhelming, costly and not always equipped for behavioral health needs — the BHUC provides a safe, child-focused environment where healing can begin right away.
Mental health challenges among young people are increasing, and crises can happen suddenly. When a child is struggling with severe anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, aggression or substance use, families often feel they have nowhere to turn. The Youth BHUC at the Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center fills this critical gap by offering timely, specialized care without the long waits or high stress of an emergency room visit.
No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome. The center is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year.
Eligibility
Youth Behavioral Health Urgent Care services are available to any child or teen, ages 4 to 17, who is experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis and needs urgent, immediate, same-day care.
Young people in need of this care may be experiencing severe anxiety or panic attacks, thoughts of self-harm or suicide, aggressive or unsafe behaviors, substance use concerns, sudden emotional breakdowns or inability to cope.
